Together, we will meet for roughly 30 minutes to get to know each other and briefly discuss your needs regarding STEM tutoring. I am personally dedicated to ensuring my tutoring methodology is the right fit for you, so we can set SMART goals that align with your learning objectives. Therefore, this initial consultation will always be free of charge.

Before we get to work, we will create a brief list of SMART goals to guide our STEM tutoring sessions. SMART goals are Specific, Achievable, Measurable, Relevant, and Timely. An example of what this looks like is as follows: Overall desire: Pass the geometry test with an 80% or greater score. Specific: Choose a percentage, rather than just saying "pass". This creates a benchmark, indicating that we need to get four out of every five questions right. Measurable: We will outline the steps required for improvement using our tutoring methodology. If the test is on proofs, for example, we can list out the proofs that we need to learn and identify what we struggle with. Attainable: Geometry is a hard subject, and therefore we aren't aiming for a 100%. That could be a goal in the future, but for now, we want to aim for small steps towards improvement. Relevant: We are struggling in geometry, especially on the tests. To improve on the geometry tests is a relevant goal because it will help us get the overall class grade up. Additionally, falling behind now will only hinder performance in future math lessons and classes that build upon the currently used concepts. Timely: We know when the next test date is, and can now structure the steps to success to be focused on building the skills needed before the deadline.

Once we establish our SMART goals, we will dive into hitting the books and problem solving. My tutoring methodology will emphasize the importance of developing a critical thinking foundation for tackling challenges, rather than merely memorizing content or facts. We will rinse and repeat this process as necessary to excel in our STEM tutoring sessions.
